Claude for Healthcare: Connect Your Health Records to AI
Anthropic just launched Claude for Healthcare, letting Pro and Max subscribers connect their health records directly to Claude. You can now ask Claude to summarize your medical history, explain lab results, and spot patterns in your health data. The feature works through integrations with HealthEx, Function, Apple Health, and Android Health Connect. Currently US-only.

Why This Matters

Most people don't understand their own health data. Lab results come with numbers that mean nothing without context. Medical records use terminology designed for doctors, not patients.

Claude changes that. Connect your health apps, and suddenly you can ask:

  • "What do my cholesterol numbers mean?"
  • "How has my blood pressure trended over the past year?"
  • "Summarize my last three doctor visits"
  • "What questions should I ask my doctor about these results?"

This isn't Claude replacing your doctor. It's Claude helping you understand what your doctor tells you.

How to Connect Your Health Data

The setup depends on which health platform you use:

What Claude Can Do With Your Health Data

Upload years of medical records, and Claude distills them into clear summaries. Useful before seeing a new doctor or specialist.

Got bloodwork back with 30 different measurements? Claude explains what each number means, what's in normal range, and what might need attention.

Claude can analyze trends: "Your vitamin D has been declining for 18 months" or "Your resting heart rate improved 12% since you started exercising."

Ask Claude to generate questions for your doctor based on your recent results. No more forgetting what you wanted to ask.

If you share your medication list, Claude can flag potential interactions and explain why certain combinations might be concerning.

Important Limitations

Field note

Claude is not a doctor. It helps you understand health information. It does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or replace medical professionals. Claude will tell you when something needs professional attention. Take that seriously.

Your health data is sensitive. Anthropic states that health data connected through these integrations is not used to train AI models, is encrypted in transit and at rest, can be disconnected and deleted at any time, and is subject to HIPAA-compliant handling through partner integrations.

That said, you're sharing health information with an AI company. Decide for yourself if that tradeoff works for you.

Field note

The healthcare integrations are currently limited to US Claude Pro and Max subscribers. International expansion depends on navigating different countries' health data regulations.

Who This Is For

  • People managing chronic conditions - tracking diabetes, heart disease, or other ongoing conditions
  • Anyone confused by medical paperwork - Claude translates into plain English
  • Health-curious individuals - making fitness tracker and bloodwork data more useful
  • Caregivers - managing health information for family members across multiple records

Getting Started

Start small. Connect one data source and ask Claude basic questions about your recent health data.

Read the original source on techcrunch.com

Good first questions:

  • "Summarize my health data from the past month"
  • "Explain my most recent lab results"
  • "What trends do you see in my data?"

As you get comfortable, you can ask more specific questions about particular conditions, medications, or health goals.

Quick Takeaway

Claude for Healthcare turns confusing medical data into clear explanations. It's not a replacement for doctors, but it's a solid tool for understanding your own health information.
